A faulty harness is not just a compliance risk; it is a life-threatening hazard. The Importance of a Pre-Use Inspection

What to Look For:

  • Broken or Pulled Stitches: Look for loops of thread that have pulled away or areas where the stitching pattern is incomplete.

When to Retire Your Harness

While some manufacturers suggest a 5-year lifespan, the modern consensus in 2026 is based on condition, not age. A harness that is 6 years old but has been stored in a climate-controlled locker and never used might be safer than a 6-month-old harness used daily in a chemical plant.
